a unique social heritage

When Everton Library was built, Everton and the surrounding neighbourhoods of Kirkdale, Vauxhall, Anfield and Walton were amongst the most densely populated urban areas in the world.

Ken Rogers, brought up in these streets, undertook a gargantuan task of making the 1960 census into a searchable database and running 10 Lost Tribes events based on his publications and website.

The Everton Library Trust is very grateful to Ken and our vision includes a Family Heritage room for the Lost Tribes. We are determined to conserve this work to make it live for future generations

initial community asset map

This was the asset map we designed in 2020.

We recognise there is quite a lot missing from this map, and we will be updating it between now and October. The library will serve a much wider area than its immediate surroundings
